Amalthea Trust hold online Ultrasound & X-ray workshop for Uganda Trainees
Amalthea Trust recently ran another online workshop from the BME labs at Hilditch Group, for a selection of trainee Biomedical Engineers from Biogenics - an independent company in Uganda providing BME maintenance and repair for a range of health centres in the Uganda.
This time the focus was on the maintenance and repair of Ultrasound and X-Ray machines, with the sessions being led by Jas Bikhu and Satish Thakar, assisted by Andy Barrow from Kent Hospitals NHS Trust and Nazir Hamidi from Hilditch Group.
The 5-hour long session utilised the wide range of equipment at Hilditch Group to closely match the Ugandan resources, ensuring the opportunity for practical hands-on training. With the expert team online to answer the recipients many questions, it was a positive and invaluable learning experience for all.
The workshop was facilitated by Ben Oldfrey at UCL and with encouraging feedback there is undoubtedly a huge potential for these sorts of interactive online training sessions. The Amalthea Trust will be looking to do many more going forward.
